| Question: | During the Summer when there are brown outs and power surges the fuses of my air conditioner blow. What can I do to prevent this from happening? |
| Answer: |
During the hot Summers when
many people are running their air conditioners power surges and brown
outs are not uncommon. After a brown out when electricity is restored
every unit running at that time will come back on causing many units
to start without proper voltage which will create higher amps. This
higher amperage draw causes fuses to blow and circuit breakers to trip.

| Question: | My thermostat for my heating and cooling system always seems to be offset by a few degrees. I can never seem to figure out what the temperature in my home is. What can be done to fix this problem? |
| Answer: |
Most older types of thermostats
are mechanical. This means they use a bimetal coil and mercury bulb
switches for operation. These thermostats brand new can be up to 5 degrees
offset and the mercury bulb switches make it very easier for the homeowner
to short cycle their system.

| Question: | During the summer season the condensation line of my air conditioner without fail becomes clogged and leaks water everywhere. What can be done to prevent this? |
| Answer: |
In most counties it is a
code requirement to have a p-trap in the condensation line of your air
conditioner. The p-traps hold water so drainage and sewage fumes will
not be drawn up through the condensation line into the home.

| Question: | The top floor of my home is always 5 to 10 degrees warmer than the lower floors during the summer season. |
| Answer: |
During the summer the radiant
heat of the sun being on the roof of your home will create very high
temperatures, up to 150 F, in the attic of your home. With an attic
temperature of 150 F the heat will radiate through the ceiling of the
top floor of your home and make the room temperature warmer in turn
making the air conditioner run constantly.
