FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Question: During the Summer when there are brown outs and power surges the fuses of my air conditioner blow. What can I do to prevent this from happening?
Answer:

During the hot Summers when many people are running their air conditioners power surges and brown outs are not uncommon. After a brown out when electricity is restored every unit running at that time will come back on causing many units to start without proper voltage which will create higher amps. This higher amperage draw causes fuses to blow and circuit breakers to trip.
We offer time delay relays, which will not let the air conditioner turn on until correct voltage has been restored. It uses a delay control, which will wait 5 minutes before bringing the unit back on. We also offer hard start kits, which will provide an extra boost of voltage to the compressor of the A/C unit. With smoother start ups your air conditioner's compressor will last longer and operate more efficiently. For power surges we offer whole house surge protectors that are installed in the circuit breaker panel and will protect every appliance in the home. Please call us for more information concerning time delays, hard start kits, and whole house surge protectors.

Question: My house is very dry. My family and I wake up with dry skin and occasional nosebleeds. We also have a static electricity problem. What steps can I take to prevent this?
Answer:

Our answer for this problem is having a whole house humidifier installed in your duct system. We offer many styles of whole house humidifiers. Some of these styles are powered, by-pass, and under the duct.
Some homes have older style humidifiers, which have a rotating sponge and a pan of standing water. These types of humidifiers can actually be harmful if not constantly cleaned and disinfected. The standing water in the pan can quickly become stagnant due to the warm dark conditions creating a breeding ground for mold and algae. The new humidifiers we offer have no pan of standing water cleaning is a cinch and replacing a humidifier pad once a year is virtually the only maintenance that must be done.
We have whole house humidifiers suitable for all sizes of homes and ductwork. We offer Honeywell, Apriliaire and, Skuttle types of humidifiers. Please call us for more information.

Question: My thermostat for my heating and cooling system always seems to be offset by a few degrees. I can never seem to figure out what the temperature in my home is. What can be done to fix this problem?
Answer:

Most older types of thermostats are mechanical. This means they use a bimetal coil and mercury bulb switches for operation. These thermostats brand new can be up to 5 degrees offset and the mercury bulb switches make it very easier for the homeowner to short cycle their system.
Electronic and programmable thermostats are your answer for these problems. Electronic thermostats use a "thermister" to sense temperature and use solid state switches for operation. This maximizes your system's efficiency and allows safe operation with no chance of short cycling your equipment. These thermostats have only a .5 degree offset so you will always know what the exact temperature of your home is.
We offer digital thermostats and 7 day/24 hours programmable digital thermostats ideal for accuracy and efficiency. With the programmable thermostat you can save up to 15% on your heating and cooling bills using the setbacks on the thermostat. Please call us for more information concerning thermostats

Question: During the summer season the condensation line of my air conditioner without fail becomes clogged and leaks water everywhere. What can be done to prevent this?
Answer:

In most counties it is a code requirement to have a p-trap in the condensation line of your air conditioner. The p-traps hold water so drainage and sewage fumes will not be drawn up through the condensation line into the home.
We offer a p-trap that is designed for the homeowner to avoid those costly water drainage and repair costs. This trap allows the homeowner number one to see what is going on the trap using clear tubing as well as having an optimal overflow switch which will shut down the air conditioner to prevent water overflow. Finally this p-trap comes with a simple clean our port with brush. Never would you have damage done to your home by clogged p-trap.

Question: The top floor of my home is always 5 to 10 degrees warmer than the lower floors during the summer season.
Answer:

During the summer the radiant heat of the sun being on the roof of your home will create very high temperatures, up to 150 F, in the attic of your home. With an attic temperature of 150 F the heat will radiate through the ceiling of the top floor of your home and make the room temperature warmer in turn making the air conditioner run constantly.
Installing an attic can on the roof will make the upper floor living space more comfortable, reduce air conditioner run time, and increase the life span of the wood of the roof. We offer many styles and types of attic fans, roof or gabell mounted and 800 sq ft to 2600 sq ft of attic space. Please call us for more information on attic fans.
